MOUNTAINEERING IN BOLIVIA - 001
CHARQUINI – 5392 m/ 17686 ft (Full day)

Private transportation from La Paz to the Zongo pass, a five hours climb to the summit (5,300 m/17,388 ft) and three hours down. Transportation back to La Paz. (L)

SIP 17. HUAYNA POTOSI - 6,088 m/19,960 ft (2 D/1 N)

DAY 1
LA PAZ / ARGENTINEAN CAMP
Private transportation from La Paz to the foothills of the mountain at the Zongo pass, climb to the Argentinean camp (5,500 m/18,040 ft), where the high camp is set. (L, D)

DAY 2
HUAYNA POTOSI SUMMIT / LA PAZ
Climbing to the base of the pyramid takes 5 hours, and do the hardest in its frontal eastern part to reach the summit (6,088 m/19,960 ft). Down to the base camp, transportation back to La Paz. (B, L)




MOUNTAINEERING BOLIVIA - 002
CONDORIRI GROUP (4 D / 3 N)

DAY 1
LA PAZ / LAKE TUNI / LAKE CONDORIRI
Private transportation from La Paz to Lake Tuni. The trek is flat until the foots of the range, then continues uphill passing one small lake, then a second one at the foothills of the Condoriri mountain, where the base camp is at an elevation of 4,650 m/15,246 ft. (B, L, D)

DAY 2-4
The peaks you can climb are:
- PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO (5,400 m/17,705 ft) 8 hours round trip.
- JAWAKA (5,410 m/17,738 ft) 7 hours round trip.
- CABEZA DE CONDOR - CONDORIRI (5,680 m/18,623 ft) 12 hours round trip. Very hard.
You have the option to climb any of these three mountains, all are one day climbs. The forth day hike down to Tuni lagoon, transportation back to La Paz. (B, L, D)




MOUNTAINEERING BOLIVIA - 003
ILLIMANI - King of the Andes - 6,438 m/21,108 ft (4 D/3 N)

DAY 1
LA PAZ / PUENTE ROTO
Private transportation to Uni farm (3,600 m/11,807 ft). The hike begins passing an area where people is dedicated to raise llamas and sheep’s and agriculture (potato, barley and quinua). Continues to Puente Roto at the foothills of the mountain, where the base camp is settle at 4,650 m/15,246 ft. (L, D)

DAY 2
PUENTE ROTO / NIDO DE CONDORES
The trail has lots of small stones and few snow, is very steep until reaching Nido de Condores, where the high camp is at 5,600 m/18,368 ft. (B, L, D)

DAY 3
ILLIMANI SUMMIT
Climbing is very steep, first an ice wall of 45 °, then a place called "stairway to heaven", to later climb the southwest peak towards east until reaching the top. Descend to high camp. (B, L, D)

DAY 4
NIDO DE CONDORES / PUENTE ROTO / LA PAZ
Down to Puente Roto, private transportation to La Paz.. (B, L)




MOUNTAINEERING BOLIVIA - 004
SAJAMA - Highest peak of Bolivia - 6,542 m/21,450 ft (5 D/4 N)

DAY 1
LA PAZ / CALVARIO
Private transportation from La Paz, through the towns of Patacamaya and Sajama, enter towards the western side of the mountain, passing the Calvario farm (4 hours), hiking then through a nice valley of queñuas until its foothills in La Rinconada (2 hours), where the base camp is settle. (B, L, D)

DAY 2
CALVARIO / RINCONADA – Base camp
It is a hike through a nice valley and the highlands until the foothills of the mountain, at La Rinconada. In the western part of the Sajama (5 hours), where the base camp is settle. (B, L, D)

DAY 3
NIDO DE CONDORES - High camp
It is a very steep uphill climb until the high camp (5 hours), known also as Nido de Condores. (B, L, D)

DAY 4
SAJAMA SUMMIT – Base camp
You pass first a glacier, then many small hills, one after another until reaching the top (6 hours). Being at the highest peak of Bolivia, majestic in the middle of the highlands. Descend to high camp (2 hours) and then to the base camp of la Rinconada (2 hours). (B, L, D)

DAY 5
BASE CAMP / CALVARIO / SAJAMA / LA PAZ
Today you’ll hike down to the valley and enter the highlands, until the village of Sajama, with a great option to recover some energy at the local hot springs (3 hours). Transportation back to La Paz. (B, L)
