La Merced
Fine example of Baroque architecture. The Church and Monastery are located in Plazuela de la Merced (corner of Jr. de la Union and Jr. Miroquesada). The cloister dates from 1546. The church was rebuilt after 1628.On the main altar stands the effigy of our Lady of Mercy. Open daily 8am-12 m, 4 pm-8 pm.

Santo Domingo
Church and Monastery. Built in 1549. Located on the corner of Jr. Conde de Superunda and Camana. It is considered to be the oldest church and convent in Lima. Santa Rosa de Lima and San Martin de Porres were buried here. The Chapter House was once the premises of the Universidad de San Marcos, the eldest in America. Open Mon-Sat 9am - 1pm, 3pm - 6pm. Sun only mornings

San Francisco
Church and Monastery. Corner of Jr. Lampa and Jr. Ancash. The church was rebuilt in 1674. It has beautiful Baroque and Neoclassic holy scenes and impressive underground catacombs, a museum of religious art and library. Open daily 9:30 am - 5:45 pm. Guided Tours only.

San Pedro
Church and Monastery, on the third block of Jr. Ucayali, built by Jesuits in 1638.Marvelous altars and Moorish style balconies. Open Mon-Sat 8 am-12m, 5pm - 8 pm.

Santa Rosa
First block of Av. Tacna. The Sanctuary was built in 1699 next to the house where the Saint was borne in 1586.. Santa Rosa is the first Saint of the Americas and Patron of Lima. Open daily 9:30 am - 1 pm, 3:30 pm - 7 pm

Las Nazarenas
18th century Rococo church, located on the corner of Huancavelica and Av. Tacna. Dedicated to the Lord of Miracles. Was built around an image of Christ crucified painted by a liberated slave in the 16th century. This is the most venerated image in Lima. Open daily 6 am - 12m, 5pm- 8:30 pm.

San Agustin
Corner of Jr. Ica and Jr. Camana. Its façade is a fantastic example of churrigueresque arquitecture. The sacristy is of wood crafted in 1643. It has an impressive sculpture, The Archer of Death. Open: 7am-11am, 4pm-7:30 pm

San Marcelo
Located on the corner of Rufino Torrico and Emancipacion. One of the oldest churches in Lima with Baroque façade and remarkable 18th century gold leaf high altar. Open daily 8am -12m, 4pm - 8pm.

Convento Los Descalzos
On La Alameda de los Descalzos. Founded in 1592, contains over 300 paintings from the Lima, Cusco and Quito schools. It has a museum and library, open daily 10 am - 1 pm, 3pm - 6pm. Except Tue. Guided Tours only.
