Peru has been recognized as the earth´s most ecologically diverse country, since eighty four of the one hundred and four ecosystems in the world, and twenty eight of the thirty two climates on the planet are found in Peru.

The following figures speak for themselves:

Peru has recorded close to 3,800 species of animals, nine percent of all known.
The Peruvian Amazon is the world´s richest butterfly habitat, with 3,700 species registered and it is considered the largest pharmacy in the planet, with a huge number of medicinal plants. In this area, the two forests with the highest biodiversity in the world are found: Mishana and Yanamono.
More than 40,000 species of plants exist in the Peruvian territory. Around 3,000 species of orchids developed in Peru.
Over 2,000 species of fish inhabit Peruvian rivers, more than the amount found in the Atlantic Ocean.
Thirty two types of monkeys live in the Peruvian rain forest.
Over 300 species of reptiles have been recorded in Peru, more than the amount found in the entire state of Florida.
More than 1,700 registered species of birds are found in Peru. The Manu National Park alone has registered more than 1,000 species of birds, and 400 species of birds can be found in less than one square mile. Also, there are about 5,000 species of flowering plants in this protected area.
