Important information when you travel to Ecuador.
In Ecuador's four regions there are a number of different climates and microclimates. The equatorial weather varies according to elevation, location of the cities and towns, for geographic differences in altitude, longitude, latitude and for the Humboldt´s current.
The Highlands have a rainy and cold climate from November to April, and a dry climate from May to October. The temperature oscillates between 13 and 18 degrees centigrade.
In the Pacific coast the rainy season is between December to May and the dry season between June to November. The temperature oscillates between 23 and 26 degrees centigrade.
In the East (equatorial jungle) the rainy and humid season is between January and September, with temperatures between 23 and 36 degrees centigrade, and the dry season between October and December. The Pastaza Valley is one of the most rainy regions of the world (around 5000 mm).
In Galapagos the weather from June to December is cool, cloudy and dry, the current rising from the South which creates a cool moist fog. From December to June is warm, sunny and rainy. In December the currents change and the weather is hot, with sunny mornings, followed by clouds and occasionally showers in the afternoon. In general the temperatures are ranging between 22 and 32 degrees centigrade.
